Is there an age limit for prospective adoptive parents?

In the case of a child below 4 years of age, the composite age of the couple should not exceed 90 years and an individual’s age should not be more than 45 years.

For children between 4 and 8 years of age, the composite age of the couple should not exceed 100 years and an individual’s age should not be more than 50 years.

However, in the case of children between 8 and 18 years of age, or children with special needs, the mentioned composite age limit may be relaxed to 110 years for couples and limited to a maximum age of 55 years for individuals.

In addition, the age gap between child and parent should not be less than 25 years.

The age criteria may be relaxed for within the family adoptions and step-parent adoptions.
